My father (95yrs old) has many happy memories of fishing on the river Avon at Marcliff. My mother passed away recently, and my father has been recalling how they met whilst camping at Marcliff. “She was my best catch,” he has reminded us. They had known each other for 77 years and were married for 72years.
My parents lived in Birmingham and he recalls that Marcliff was “a very nice place. The locals including shop keepers received us well. We walked from the camp site to the village along the bank of the river. It was a short walk”. (Mr William Gossage).
