This photograph is remarkable for including a rare view of the Midland Electric Light Co.’s generating station in Wise Street (which can be seen on the left behind the big chimney). The generating works occupied the north lit factory type building behind the terrace in the lower left hand part of the photo, the iron bound chimney at the left was the works chimney. My Great Grandfather William Bryson was the foreman of the plant at the time this was taken.
