This is the former site of Kington station with platforms now removed, passenger buildings derelict but goods yard still being used. The GWR 2-6-2T Prairie locomotive is at the head of an enthusiast’s special, one of many which visited the line in the 1950s and 1960s, hence the sight of people walking around.
I agree completely with Mike Musson’s comment above. The photo is taken from the left hand end of the Warwick Road bridge, which is still extant, looking along the site of the closed passenger station.
Until Dr Beeching made his cuts this line was still open for goods traffic. My friend’s father was in charge of the signal box and it was a great treat for us to be allowed to pull the levers to change the tracks.
