Fossil Nautilus from South Warwickshire
A fossil Nautilus shell from the Blue Lias of the Lower Jurassic. Found in South Warwickshire in 2012 at a temporary exposure, now covered up with new housing. Nautilus still live in deep oceans today, relatively unchanged for the last 200 million years.
This fossil did not look like this when found. It needed preparing with specially adapted tools to bring it back to life.
