Bramcote Hospital, Lutterworth Road, Nuneaton is now closed. It is known by many as a former children’s hospital, and indeed many members of our Nuneaton Memories Facebook group have posted photos of themselves in the hospital. It has also served as a rehabilitation hospital in its later life. The hospital is now all fenced off with no public access but a Nuneaton Memories member gained permission to go behind the fence to take these photos.

Do you know who owns Bramcote now?
Hi Helen. I don’t know if it gives the details you want, but Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council’s planning portal has an application on there with supporting documents, if you search by street.
I was the last member of staff to vacate the site of the old hospital in April 2015.
i was in this hospital in the late sixties, my stay was some what scary. I remember a long ward we slept in and it was boys and girls I remember my friend he had no arms and drew with his feet, but I can’t remember his name. I often think of this place and would love to visit .
I was a patient in 1960 (aged 7). Long ward mentioned was ‘Forest Ward’ wasn’t it? Bottom of the quadrangle? Every room had windows on each wall so staff could look right through the rooms. There was a hut in the grounds with a large derelict model railway layout. The place scared me, I hated it and, at 63, I still think of it quite often.
I too was at Bramcote in 1960, for 8 months. A long time for a 6 yr old. I remember going down the long drive to main road, with a nurse to write down passing car numbers.
Why were children here for so long. What sort of hospital was it. My sister was there when we were little and we were never told the reason why. We just knew she ‘disappeared’ for what seemed like months and nobody spoke about it.
I was there around 1961, are there any older photos of the place?
I was at Bramcote Children’s Hospital in the mid 80s and i remember it well. I used to stay there in the week and stayed with my family at the weekends. I remember once the teacher there got cross because a kid in class was misbehaving so she got him around the neck. After that we didn’t see her again only her husband who used to do the clay class. I had my first serious crush there with a girl called Katrina and remember feeling jealous when I saw her with another boy outside in the snow lol. I was there for under a year but I remember the place really well and did want to visit the place again to relive some memories but unfortunately it had already been demolished. I had a lot of memories of this place some good, some bad. Overall though I am sad it’s now gone as I just wanted one more look before it was ripped down.
