Was this picture taken at the Sheepy Road football ground in Atherstone?
In all probability this photo was taken at the Sheepy Road ground in Atherstone on Saturday 28th April 1906 following the Adders 1-1 draw with Kettlebrook Oakfield of Tamworth which gave them the Trent Valley League title for 1905-1906. In team photos of the time players lined up in their on field positions so from this we can identify Arthur Archer the goalkeeper, to his left is ‘Reg’ Gould and to his right Arthur Windridge. I don’t know the middle three but of the forwards Tommy Kynnersley is in the middle and captain, Ted Smith is far right. The trophies are on the left the Fazeley Cup won 13/4/06 v Hartshill 1-0. On the right is the Polesworth Cup won 21/04/1906 v Polesworth 2-1 after a replay and in the centre is the Trent Valley League Shield. The Adders also won the Nuneaton Cup again after a replay when Poleesworth did not turn up. Three cups and a league title made for a very succesful season.
I now have the names of the players in the photo. Arthur Archer is the goalkeeper in the light shirt. To his left as you look is Gould and to his right is Windridge. The middle three are Boonham, Eaton and Grazier. At the front are Miller, Webb, Kynnersley, Wright and Smith.
