Description of this historic site

The possible site of St Modwenna's Well. It was a holy well dating to the Medieval period, and is mentioned in documentary sources. The well is believed to have been destroyed when the railway was built. It was situated 300m north west of Foxholes Wood.

Notes about this historic site

1 Adjacent to Fosse Way. The site was probably destroyed when the railway was built.
2 Various names on documents of 1657, 1745 and 1848 record the well.
