Iron Age Coins from Tower Hill

Findspot - several Iron Age coins were found in the area of Tower Hill, Bidford on Avon.

Notes about this historic site

1 In 1990 an Iron Age gold coin was found in the area of Tower Hill. The coin was found by a metal detector and dates to around 54-24 BC.
2 A silver Dobunni reported by metal detectorists.
3 Gold “ingot” weighing 27.265gm. Unfortunately know virtually nothing is known about the nature of gold used in coin minting in the Iron Age and the “ingot” cannot be dated.
4 A quarter stater of the Dobunni, late 1st century BC, was found in 1992 on ‘Tower Hill, right side track’, SP10655210.
