Findspot - Roman pottery from north of Butlers Marston

Description of this historic site

Findspot - fragments of Roman were found 400m north of Butlers Marston. Some of the fragments may have come from large storage jars.

Notes about this historic site

1 Roman pottery was found during the clearing out of the Medieval fishponds (PRN 1176) in the winter of 1984-5.
2 This pottery was identified and included mortaria, large storage jars, grey and oxidised wares. 26 sherds were found and this is a typical late Roman assemblage.
