Notes about this historic site
1 A watching brief was carried out in 1995 prior to construction of an extension. No archaeological features were identified in the trenches, but several sherds of Roman pottery, including an unusual fragment of a face decoration, were recovered from the spoil.
2 The Roman finds have been dated to the C2. Jars decorated with faces on their shoulders are not common in the Severn Valley, though not uncommon in a wider context. This particular piece is damaged, but appears to have no close parallels for its design.
