My earliest childhood memories from the mid/ late 1950s are of living in part of the Manor house at Stratton on Fosse. My father was an R A F officer stationed nearby and the owner of the house was the right honourable Mrs Carson. There was a farm opposite the hous3 and the farmer was called Uncle Bill. He had two horses called Workman and Paddy and a huge sow called Queen Mary! Strange the things one remembers!
My father would have known the farmer and Im not sure but my great grandfather was the horseman of the shire horses on one of the farms. My great grandfather’s name was Thomas Hall, my grand father was Albert Hall and my father Peter Hall. My father Peter knew most people in Stretton as he was there most of his childhood and youth and still visited often once married.
