I was a trainee chef at that Hotel it was owned by Mr Rookes it was still open as a Hotel in the 1960s
The owner in the 1960s was CA Rookes the archway became an off licence, vehicular access to the yard was from the road behind the hotel
The Red Horse closed for good in 1981. It was own by the hotel chain Norfolk capital who sold it to Marks and Spencer
I worked there as a trainee chef and was sorry to see it go
I believe my grand mother lived here as a child the de saules family In the early 1930s
It is listed on her marriage cert as her residence
