Modern Ryton has an interesting character; the now dual carriageway A45 creates two villages in one, with the halves linked by a subway. The Church Road side is somewhat quieter, although with the exit from the A45 nearby there was no way I was going to stand in the centre of the road to get the exact same camera angle as a hundred years previously, however quiet the road itself was!

My dad was born at the malt shovel in 1925.
He also lived at jubilee farm.
In my time growing up in Ryton-on-Dunsmore Tony &Sarah Doherty ran the Malt Shovel, great memories great hosts.
