Leamington History Group

We are a lively community-based local history group who love exploring, preserving and sharing Leamington Spa’s rich history. We seek collaborative community partnerships with other local organisations, schools and historians. We have a monthly evening speaker programme. Our popular Leamington History Café “Coffee, History and Chat” is on Tuesday mornings.

We organise an annual Leamington History Heritage Day in September and participate across the town in various events (Their Finest Hour WW2 Project), and across the summer, we organise Free Guided Leamington History Group Town Walks, supported by the Royal Leamington Spa Town Council.

Member activities

Our members take part in various research projects, regularly publishing articles for our website. We have published a number of community books, including Royal Leamington Spa: A History in 100 Buildings (2018) and more recently Global Leamington (2023). Copies available from secretary@leamingtonhistory.co.uk; our latest research projects are Enterprising Leamington and the Leamington Arts Scene.

We also research and produce Leamington History Group Films. We are currently working on our new film: The Impact of the University of Warwick on Leamington Spa (1965-2025) to celebrate its 60th anniversary.

The four films we have produced to date are:
