The town may now be the administrative centre of the Borough of Solihull, but historically, Solihull has been part of Warwickshire. St. Alphege's church is one of many historic buildings in the town centre, and the town is also noted for its car manufacturing heritage. This continues in the present day, in the form of Jaguar Land Rover.
