Notes about this historic site

1 This was the original manor house of the de Clintons which came by exchange in the mid C14 into the hands of Maxstoke Priory. They converted it into barns and utilised the moat for the turning of a watermill.
2 There are no remains of the manor house or watermill.
3 The site is now occupied by modern farm buildings.
