Notes about this historic site
1 (Marginal) Skeletons of men and horses, with swords, cannon balls and other instruments of war have been unearthed at the Leasowes, in close proximity to the church. These would appear to denote the site of a skirmish during the Wars of the Roses, or the days of Cromwell.
2 It appears that the objects were unearthed a few years before 1863.
