Warwick ‘WARWICKE’

The walls and turrets of Warwick Castle can be seen on the right of the town. The castle was built in 1068 and was home to the Earls of Warwick. Queen Elizabeth I visited in 1572.

Two churches are shown on the map. The tallest, square tower belongs to St Mary’s, which was partly rebuilt in 1704 after the Great Fire of Warwick. The pointed steeple is St Nicholas church which was rebuilt in 1785.
